Life is for Living
Dr. David Mead founded Mead Medica in 1997 and soon afterwards completed a new, purpose designed, specialist home for people with dementia in Aberdeen, setting new standards.
Over time Mead Medica has grown but, more importantly, it has not changed and continues to value people as individuals by assisting them to retain their self respect and dignity. This important approach has been upheld, by the Board of Directors focussing on the same core values in all the homes and services by maintaining traditional home comforts, a safe and secure place to live, well maintained internal and external environments combined with high quality standards of care and support. These high standards are supervised and delivered by highly motivated managers and trained staffing teams dedicated to the wellbeing of these service user clients who choose to live with us or be cared for and supported by us in their own homes.
The Mead Medica Senior Management Team and the Administration and finance Departments are based at our Head Office in Annan, and the Regional Office in Aberdeen. These together with homes in Lockerbie, Ecclefechan, Annan, Maybole, Perth and Aberdeen, as well as other opportunities under consideration, help support our diverse and caring business. In addition, we own and manage 27 extra-care flat-lets, run a Day Care Centre for 30 people and, in conjunction with Alzheimer Scotland, run a seperate specialist Day Care Centre for 9 people, all part of our retirement Village in Ecclefechan. Mead Medica also own a seperate home care business, JPM Community Care services, which cares and supports people in the local community living in their own homes, primarily in Annan, Lockerbie and Dumfries.
At Mead Medica we firmly believe that life is for living, regardless of age or infirmity, and that is why we have a full programme of co-ordinated social activities at all of our Homes, Retirement Village and day Care Centres, to cater for the various interests and different tastes of our individual service user clients.
